I've tested this in our demoroom and it works with our Google Apps account, so this may be a (temporary?) solution. Still wainting to hear from the IT departments I've shared this with.

 

Security cannot be lowered on a Google Apps account.

 

I can find no official word from Google on this.


Xerox 5745 - SMTP address not being saved

Our client have about 10 Xerox, all different model but configured the same way.  We have an issue with the Xerox 5745, it doesn't save the SMTP server address, or DNS name at all.  You enter the information and then once you've applied it and go back to check the settings it's all gone.

 

It did work up to last week and now it doesn't, rebooted the printer still the same issue.  Nothing has changed other than this.

My workcentre 3220 can receive fax but cannot send. Only a blank sheet with a header(my fax #) is received. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Transfer Paper for Phaser 5500

Can anyone recommend transfer paper?

I'd like to make a few tshirts, using my Phaser 5000, for fun—and don't want to gum up the works.

Hello guys,

 

Thanks for replay.

 

In our offices, Workcentre 7720 only works with smtp.gmail.com on port 465 and TLS/SSL. In the other hand, Workcentre 6605 since last 25th only works with smtp.googlemail.com (different IP) on 587 and STARTTLS. Both models uses same email account on Google Apps. Two step auth is not enabled.

Scan to E-mail and Network Address Book

I'm having an issue with scanning and e-mailing to a single e-mail address in the network address book.  The user had been recently married and we changed her e-mail address to reflect the new last name.  The changes propagated correctly to the network address book.  However, e-mails sent to the new address never arrive.  E-mails sent to any other address from the Xerox arrive without issue.  She receives all other e-mail without issue.  Manually entering the address as a recipient does not work either.  This is happening on 4 different Xerox devices.  Any ideas?

We have been experiencing the same issues with a couple of our Xerox devices. The Address Book and Favorites has seemingly disappeared. Our work around has been to simply reload the .CSV file every time this occurs (about once every couple of weeks). It is beginning to become quite a nuisance. If any better resolution can be found it would be much appreciated.

Hello CincyDirt,

 

We still have the same problem, but not on all machines.

It's still not clear when this will be solved. In September Xerox comes to do the alt boot and install from scratch.

 

Mostly, we don't do the CSV upload, we just force a restart on the machine as a "solution".

Most of the machines here needs a reboot every week because they are jammed/locked or they don't print anymore because of a lock or the address book.

 

Please also let us know if you have found a solution.

I would call Xerox and get a tech to upgrade your device. But there are caveats:

 

 The newest firmware is a whole new version called "Connectkey 1.5" 072.010.104.14800

 

It is *highly* suggested that it is done as a "Forced Altboot, no data backup, no clone" which means an entire wipe, and set it back up manually as some settings just don't play well with the update. So the only thing that could be restored would be the address book, just export it, wait for the tech to finish, and then import it back onto the device. But everything else would be better if it was typed back in manually from a printed configuration sheet from before the reload.

 

 I have seen reports of what you are seeing before, but not very often, typically it can be replicated if you very quickly scan to one location, and while that scan is running, quickly pick another and do another scan. What will happen is that even though you changed everything on the screen, it appears something in the back-end does not update quick enough and the repository does not change until *after* the scan goes through.

 

Any firmware this was seen on also showed an issue where if you pick a one-touch and select the "Clear-All" button you would see the scan defaults re-appear for a few seconds (Mostly only noticeable if you changed the default file name, you would see "Doc" briefly return.

Odd you need to define this, by the sound of it, the string is to make a user not searchable. According to everything MS has to say on it, the attribute of True for this is to take an employee who is no longer in the system out, for instance, on Maternity leave. Then when they come back you set it to "False" and they are back in. Seems like it is not working server side. But I'm not an LDAP expert.
