Issue with B405 MFC printers.

Have it configured and working correctly with LDAP, however when a user searches for another user, it sometimes will show users with multiple duplicate names (some users have different emails). Is there a way for the console to display not only the first and last name, but also the email address along with it, so the user chooses the correct one.

I know on our Altalink copiers, users can perform a search and it will show them first and last name, along with email address, so theres no confusion if they chose the correct one.

Why about if you scaned 500-600 pages using build job. If jamed in the last pages need scaned again. It hapened so many time and it`s so bad. Why Toshiba is doing so well, need scaned only the pages jamed in the document feeder and continue?????

Scan to email no longer works

I have a multifunction printer I have used for several years and am generally very happy with it. It's capabilities exceed my needs, but one thing I had set up and did use regularly was scan to email. The same email address I had set up specifically to work with this system cannot be used by the 6605. Further investigation suggests that it cannot locate the server. I have been working with my hosting company, and through tests we can see that the printer does not actually reach the account or start the negotiation. Why it has suddenly stopped is unclear. It does correctly locate the SMTP server. 

I am using the last listed firmware: 201604180657

The device is discoverable on my network, and is used by multiple devices, so DHCP is working. However I am very suspicious of the value Unknown coming up beside DNS in the top left of the CentreWare screen. If the printer is unable to access a DNS server then it will not be able to resolve domain names. I do not have any other examples of where the printer needs to access anything externally. I have no other symptoms why it is not working. 

It is connected to a router, and the entry for DNS in the TCP/IP page is set to Obtain DNS server address automatically. Even when I manually place a DNS server address in that field the field the section in the top left of the CentreWare web page does not change from:  DNS: Unknown.

I note that a few other people have reported similar problems (cannot scan to email) but there is no clear answer. I have reset my network settings, which was one of the potential solutions, no change. 

The gateway has DNS set up otherwise my computer would not be working, and I could not access the internet. 

Any help or guidance appreciated. Particularly if this is somehow related to the SHA2 security messages all of the support threads point to. However in that case as far as I can see it is connecting to Xerox servers and is specifically related to metering and ordering of consumables. In my case I am not using this area at all, and although following the support threads keep leading me to the same area, I do not think it is relevant to this case.

More info:

I found the IP address of the SMTP server, entered that. So DNS name resolution is no longer a part of the puzzle. It is clear that the messages are not leaving my network. Nothing was registered at the remote server. My firewall is configured to block WAN side messages entering the LAN, but not the other way around. Everything else I have seems to be able to connect from the LAN side to the WAN side apart from this printer. 

These symptoms seem to suggest that the printer is being blocked, or maybe not sending the messages at all. Is there some additional security measures included in the code for the printer which may be blocking this?  Is there something I have missed somewhere? I have also swapped routers as well while doing this. I have two high end routers exibiting the same behaviour with this device.

I would like to setup a Single Touch button or a function/workflow that will do a scan to email with a customized text in the email and then I've to select only the sender.

I've look into SingleTocuh App but this allow me only scan to folder option

I would recommend speaking with a network specialist by calling 1-800-821-2797. Please have your device serial number ready as they will need that to authenticate you.

Hello,

 

I have multiple AltaLink C8045 deployed utilizing Cisco ATA 191 for faxing connected to the same Cisco Call Manager utilizing the same PSTN trunk and ATAs are configured exactly the same.  Some of my machines have no problem sending and receiving faxes, but others are only able to receive.  Machines with problem can dial the number no problem, make the connection, but then the machine pauses several times for a few minutes and then the job fails. Also, this is all when sending to the same fax number as I've tried to standardize everything for testing and troubleshooting.

I've gone through the support forum and read every article related to this issue and have turned the volume up to max on outgoing faxes and there is no audible difference.  I've even put a test set inline between the machine and ATA and monitored and there is no audible difference between sending and receiving.  I've been unable to locate any setting to change baud rate and/or disable ECM or even verify what those settings are.  We've had several technicians out and they have done nothing except lay blame to the phone line, however I can connect any other fax machine to the line and not have any issues.

I'm not sure what else to look at and wanted to throw this out here to see if anyone has expereinced this and has been able to resolve.


Scan to emails not being delivered, but no error messages

We haven't made any settings changes to our Xerox devices in years. Scans sent to emails aren't working all of a sudden. No error messages and the machine is showing them as sent successfully - though nothing arrives. I have tried multiple times with organization addresses as well as a personal one - nadda. I checked the device settings and nothing has changed - IP's are going to the right places. Everything network related looks fine in the web portal. Have done several reboots also. Advice? Thank you.

Obsolescence? Having issues connecting to Ethernet and wireless. Works with usb but can't share.

Is there an easy way to determine if the printer is bad or the user is uninformed on how to setup the pieces. When networked I can ping printer and see with browser but it will not print. Can't figure out how to setup wireless but it does work usb. The previous Samsung usb connected printer just stopped working.

versalink c405dn Fax Forwarding Options are not available

We have a Versalink c405dn. Currently, faxes just print out when they are received. Is there a way to send faxes to a folder/file? We have scan to a folder set up already. I checked the support page and it says there is supposed to be a Fax Forwarding option in the fax settings by going to Device>Apps>Fax>faxforwarding. This setting is not there. Does this unit support Fax Forwarding and is there a way to enable it? The printer is up to date.

When I scan something in, it tries to send it as a fax instead of sending it to the server. A notice spits out that your job cannot be sent.

Hi Folks,

Got a C8045 that's misbehaving. User reports all scans receieve the message in the subject. Checked, and indeed I get the same thing. Of course, I Googled and got nothing even remotely similar to the error. Did a cursory check of the forums and got nothing too.

The cause of my hair loss.The cause of my hair loss.Went digging in the config, nothing out of the ordinary. SMTP is configured, from field configured, test configuration works great. But still, same error. Rebooted, same thing. Checked NTP, good to go.

So I pull another C8045, try scanning and it works great. I go through any of the settings that would cause something like this and set them to the working C8045 (there wasn't really much to change and nothing that in my experience would do anything) and it's still no dice.

Any ideas? I'm about ready to quit IT and start a goat farm.

Yes this works but this is not what I'm looking for. I want that a user can add his accoutn to the favorites himself from the printer after finding his name in the Network addressbook.

I've tens of printer to manage and I personnaly don't know who should be added to the favorites on which printer.

Cannot fax

When I try to fax it dials the number but every time it gives an error and says 'No Answer'.  I have tried from the pc and from the wk center.  I'm lost!
