Hello Joe,

first of all thanks for your quick answer.

I just setup the Xerox 7335 machine, as well as the FTP server and firewall options on the host OS as described by you. But I cannot access to the CWIS as you call it. The browser displays an error message saying something like - sorry for the perhaps bad translation: "Secure Connection failed. SSL counterpart reports an invalid message authentication code. Error Code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_MAC_ALERT.

I assume that this 7335 Workstation doesn't support configuration via menu from a host computer due to its age. Or I am wrong with that ?

Would you please be so kind and help me with that once again ?

I can see your point however I feel it is designed correctly.

Bearing in mind the DADF is very reliable and jams should be rare I feel most people would be more confident reloading the whole scan so all pages are imaged.

It could be dangerous only scanning the remaining few incase a critical page is missed. Xerox or any manufacturer wouldn’t want to risk this.

At 139ipm that extra minute or two rescanning the full file is worth spending to guarantee the file is complete.

paper jam entering devoloper section

Hi,

I have a Workcentre 7556 with finisher.  I am having issues with usage.

Upon start up machine goes through its paces and warms up.  As part of this warm up it sends a practice sheet which is two sided.  It successfully completes this process and when finished with warm up sits idle waiting for instructions from operator.

My issue is that it will not copy after this process.  It jams on input.  Paper feeds just fine, but stops inside left upper door before entering the developer unit.

Xerox 6605 not sending scan to email

Hi,

We have this printed for several years. SMTP settings was good, and everything worked fine.

But since september, 05, 2018, it's impossible for us to scan by mail. We get 016-507 error.

We used private smtp (not GAFA ;-) )

So I try :

- to change smtp server (I tried with office365) => KO

- to change smtp server with no authentication => KO

- to update firmware to 201604180657 => KO

It's quite difficult to follow what's happen, because I don't have access to logs ..

Could you help me please ?

Correct, it has to be set up on the web interface and can't be done at the machine.

Try another web browser, Chrome and Firefox have issues on older printers, else, there should be an option to continue anyway

Scan to USB is a service within Workflow Scanning.

It should, if set up properly, automatically prompt you when you load a USB stick in the MFP.

Like this:

Pretty much all Xerox devices do the same thing, the same way and run the same app (Workflow Scanning)

The VersaLink family (Made by FujiXerox) has a USB option on the screen. Their (FujiXerox) older products tended to have a Store to USB feature.

Send fax & get sending status report from Linux

Hi,

I have a  Xerox WorkCentre 7232 and want to send fax from a Linux host on the same LAN (using the RTC network connected to the Xerox Fax Interface).

In addition, I would need to get the emission report (failure/success code).

Any hint how to perform that?

Hi,

Take out and check the fuser module and if is broken replace it. Eventually see what fault code is displayed in Fault History.

Hello,

The versalinks have the book scanning function, but the altalinks do not... i see book copy and book fax, but no book scanning. Has anyone figured out a workaround for this?

Grabrene!

Thank you for responding.  The fuser module is new and has been replaced.  That is the unit that has two yellow knobs that hand screw out and has to easy to hang on handles, correct?

I have had that thing out various times and cannot seem to figure why paper is not continuing on.

Will double check. I took it out again and do not see any restrictions.

No fault codes appear. Should I order another fuser?

016-507 is an invalid login, usually due to an invalid response(logs in, but doesn't understand the response and quits), which is what would happen if the server uses a protocol the printer doesn't. support. If that is the case,try a firmware update to get whatever update may be needed, else SMTP2Go should work.

There is no workaround, it isn't an option, unless you count copying a book and then scanning the output as a workaround.

Xerox is basically a North American division, and FujiXerox does the rest of the world (Yes, that is over generalizing)

Outside of North America, things like School Textbooks don't have the cost associated like here in North America, IP laws are also different.

So Xerox probably doesn't have the function to eliminate the possibility to be sued for abetting infringement, just like if you try to copy money it won't let you, and if you manage a scan of money, even programs like Photoshop won't open it.

To get an official response from Engineers, you would need to call and go through 2nd level support. But I wouldn't bother, it won't be added to the device and the answer will just be "It doesn't, because reasons, make a copy, scan that"

As mentioned, I don't see anything broken on fuser unit.  I have posted pic, the paper does not even enter the fuser unit.

Am checking fault codes.  Not sure how to do that, but have seen it done.  Machine just gives error message stating paper jam and shows area that I have in picture.

Fault codes in descending order from most recent.

392.678.00

392.673.00

389.626.00

389.617.00

Are these numbers what you are looking for?

No current faults.

The fault messages section says, out of paper, low on magenta . . . etc.  Nothing about any parts malfunctioning.

Hi,

The fault codes provided by you are not a paper jam fault codes, they are from MOB Sensor that not read properly the color registration (it is possible to be dirty). But for your paper jams are some parts that can be defctive: takeaway clutch, registration clutch, main motor. So is better to have a tech to diagnose your machine.

How can I create a PDF with searchable text via OCR on my 6515?

I set up my 6515 today and things have mostly gone smoothly... I love the print quality and fast scanner, wow!

But in the marketing materials I saw reference to creating PDFs with searchable text via OCR function, and I cannot find the word "OCR" anywhere in the printer's own menu, or Mac or Windows software. I've scanned documents to USB to test, but for my users it's more likely that we'll want to initiate a scan from a desktop computer.

I'd be appreciative if someone could give me a hint!

It can also be set as the default.

EWS > Apps > Scan To

EWS > Apps > Email

2.JPG

EWS > Apps > USB etc etc

While every MFP has scan now, that wasn't the case back when this machine came out, yours wasn't sold with the Scan kit, so you can't scan, unless you buy the kit, which would be hard to source (Xerox stopped selling this device December of 2011)

Mono Scan KIT is 497K05760

I know color scan was possible on the 5735A when it had a SN that began with XEF, but I can't find a kit to add to one that doesn't have that SN
