I have changed copy feature from Text-Photo to Text and still copies are faded. Not a scan issue as the Configuration page is washed out too. Will try a new drum unit when I return but wondered if anyone else has had this issue. Thanks
Just by the location of the paper getting jammed, I would think the rollers might need to be changed. Just take the Fuser out and see if you can touch the rollers. If the rollers are really smooth, its time to get them changed.
At the same time even if the fuser is new, just check the bottom to make sure there isn't something blocking the feed.
I would talk to your support staff if you don't have access to login to the centreware of the device, as this feature maybe disabled.
If you are able to log into the CentreWare of the device and "Properties" -> "Services" -> "Scan to USB"
The location can change depending on the model you are using.

I am trying to figure out if it's possible to change a default setting on the Manual Address Entry screen for my folks using Scan To Email.
Here's the issue:
When the users manually enter an email address, they want the handy ".com" button to default to ".edu" (since we're an edu.) I can't find where I would set that, or even if it's an option to do so.
We have a number of WorkCentre 58xxs and 78xxs and are moving into the AltaLink 80xxs so an answer for any of these would be helpful.
If the answer is "No, that can't be done" that would be useful, too, since I could then stop looking.

PS: I've been trying to teach them to use the Network Address Book, but some just don't hear me and others are trying to send to another university so that doesn't help.

I have a simillar problem. No matter how I set dns,different smtp servers (with and without ssl/tsl), error 016-781 still persist :(
There is no problem with remote printing.
I can take the fuser out. The model has two hand tight fasteners of both sides. Also has two rectangular hooks hanging for a person to grab on securely and pull out after unscrewing threaded fasteners. I have had out several times looking for and errant paper jammed in that section. Never seen any, any where. I don't thing the paper is entering that section due to the nicely wrinkled paper that is stopping the machine each time in the same way.
I have suspected this section, but unsure of what I am looking at when dismounted.
I do observe the black roller and it seems that is does look smooth and glossy. On both ends, one inch from the end, it looks very glossy. That section extends at least one to two inches inward toward the middle. Needless to say, that looks like the most neglected part of that roller. The other roller is cover in an orange plastic cover of some kind.
I was gonna pick up this unit last week, but passed on it due to the inability of me to diagnose exactly why the paper jams previous to coming in to this section each and every time.
What is strange to me is that on warm up, the machine goes through its paces and sends and two sided text sheet out and that sheets prints just fine.
I have re-ordered this fuser unit and will attain first thing Monday. I am anxious to see if this will help me. I have inundated with copy work and cannot output this very computer because that was the only unit I have currently.

Have installed new fuser unit. Now it seems the same with a few less wrinkles in jammed paper.
The machine still puts out a great two sided test sheet in color on one side upon start up completion. I don't understand why it won't work in normal copy operation after that. paper comes from the same paper tray, the #3.
I have taken pic of companion to fuser unit which swings out when door is open to remove jam. This unit works with fuser in feeding paper into feeder I am guessing. It looks like this roller is a little discolored and has shiny surface on parts, but still seems to have rubber gripping power.
Please advise and thank you so much for your input. Very important re-inforcement of my thought process.

Please should be informed that we have a firewall in place,so i ask what are the protocols using by Xerox for Scan to email ?
The client (The Xerox printer) does not define the protocol, the SMTP server does.
The printer uses exactly what the person who set it up tells it to, if it can.
Reloading the whole scan doesn't re-image all the pages. It merely counts the number of pages that had already been scanned and starts imaging the pages after it sends the amount of pages that were already imaged. So if the system knows that it has the image of the pages prior to the jam then why send them through again just to be counted. As for the scanner being reliable I agree but unfortunately the situation that I am referring to will always have jamming issues and previous MFP’s from competitors allowed the user to resolve the jam and then continue scanning without adding all the pages back in. This seems like a Xerox process not industry. It would be great if the customer could have the final decision on turning off this function if they wished to.

I'm facing a strange problem with a new C405. Machine is properly configured for network printing, we have updated it to latest firmware 68.31.81 but cannot use on a Windows 10 x64 the Xerox Scanner Management Utility. We want and must use it because we need to install TWAIN driver a software we use requires it. When we try to add the printer to the utility it says that it doesn't exist. Even if we can print and are able to manage it through web. Already checked antivirus and firewall. What else could be the problem?

When i go to use onhook dialing to send a fax it wont let me free dial a fax number unless it has been pre-programmed into machine!
It comes up with message stating " Operation disallowed due to the misdirected fax protection feature"
What am i doing wrong please?
