Updating our firmware on the 5955 fixed the problem on that copier. We didn't get a chance to try the other two models yet but I would presume this will fix those copiers also.

Thank you for your reply and also for what the other two error codes were for. I am not sure why this only affected 10 out of the 12 users assigned to the address book, but it seems it was incorrect settings in our LDAP setting on the Xerox. None of these settings were required when we setup the WorkCentre 3615's, but this new model replacement requires a bit more setup to get some of the features to work. Following the instructions given for the B405 from the website from Xerox Support were incorrect. Fortunately, I was able to determine what the settings needed to be with trial and error and my knowledge of authentication with active directory. Once the B405 was now properly talking to the active directory and could see the users machines directly, installing the driver software was all I needed to do after adding them to the address book and sending scan there way. I took a bunch of screenshots of the settings that worked so on the next one, I won't input incorrect info. Oh, and the screenshots of the SMB shares setup is definitely the correct way to do that, except you do not need the "Everyone" group to have any permissions. As long as you have the user added with full permissions as shown above, you can delete the "Everyone" group and help keep the SMB folder a bit more secured.

I have had the same issue, which started happening from time to time and was able to clear it up by rebooting the printer.  That stopped helping a week ago so ordered a new 3215 thinking that the old one was bad.  Just uninstalled the old Xerox printer software and installed with the new disc.  Still won't work.  I am running Windows 10 Pro.  I guess I will try again with a personal laptop running Windows 10 (non-Pro).

Anyone got any tips on setting up a Xerox 6515 so each of the PC can see it an control the scanner from there PC's?

Updated:  I contacted Xerox technical support.  Turns out Microsoft did an update #1803 in early May, 2018 which somehow broke the ability to use the scanner via USB cable if your computer is using Windows 10.  Xerox worked with Microsoft to create a patch called win10_rs4_patch_220618 which Xerox technical support can send you.  Don't know why they don't put it on their website as a download.  For some reason the tech guy couldn't get the email with the zipped patch file to come through my email (both work and yahoo.com versions), so he finally emailed me a link to a WeTransfer site, which worked.  I had the problem with my work laptop using Windows 10 Pro.  My personal laptop using Windows 10 Home still works with the scanner, but I am not sure if it is just because I use my personal laptop infrequently and maybe it has not yet downloaded the MS #1803 update yet.  In any case, the glitch only affected USB connection, and I was able to make the scanner work using WiFi connection even without the patch.

Hi,

I am wondering to buy a personal MFP Laser Mono. By Xerox products, I'd hesitate betweend 3225 and 3335. Price is better with 3225 but scan seems to be better with 3335. I use  MacOS, Ubuntu & Windows solutions.

I am interesting in scan solutions since I don't want to use software.. I want scan to PC but proper network solutions like AFP, NFS, SMB network shares onto HDD inside MFP, or to an USB key plugged to the MFP or directly to network shares. (Best would be to have all these possibilities). I know there is also scan to email. In fact i'd like to see configuration settings screen to have an idea about scan potential.

I used by the past Ricoh, Canon & Toshiba MFP products so I know much about hi-end network settings

Twain Scanning - Win 10 x64 and Xerox D-series

hi

Wondering if someone can assist me. 

I want to scan from my D125 printer to my PC’s (all Win10 64 bit) using twain scanning, scanning directly into Adobe etc..

Firstly, would you be able to check if twain scanning is supported on the D-series and/or Win 10 64bit, and if so, could you perhaps assist with documentation to setup and configure it (start to finish, printer and user Pc’s).

what I understood from your post that you want to scan and control the scan seetings through An App on Your PC window 

If So

you have to be sure that You already installed a TWAIN/WIA Scan Driver before going to these steps

  1. At the printer, load the original document on the document glass or in the automatic document feeder. 
  2. At your computer, click Start > Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Tools > Microsoft Clip Organizer or OneNote.
  3. Click File > Add Clips to Organizer > From Scanner or Camera.
  4. Click Device > TWAIN Driver.
  5. Click Custom Insert.
  6. For Scan Mode, select an option.
    • Preview/Scan Multiples: This mode configures the printer to allow you to preview and rearrange scanned images. You can also specify to include single scans or multiple scans in the same session.
    • Transfer Directly to App: This option bypasses the preview and sends the scanned images directly to the application.
  7. To select a size for the scanned image, click Original Size, then select a size.
  8. To select the sides to scan from the original, click Side to Scan, then select an option.
    • 1 Sided Scan: This setting scans only one side of the original document or image and produces 1-sided output files.
    • 2 Sided Scan: This setting scans both sides of the original document or image.
    • 2 Sided Scan, Rotate Side 2: This setting scans both sides of the original document or image, and rotates the second side by 180 degrees.
  9. To select the resolution to scan the image, click Resolution, then select an option.
    The scan resolution depends on how you plan to use the scanned image. Scan resolution affects both the size and image quality of the scanned image file. Higher scan resolution produces better image quality and a larger file size.
  10. To adjust the scan color, click Output Color, then select an option.
    • Automatically Detect: This option detects the color content in the original image. If the original image is color, the printer scans in full color. If the original image is a black and white document, the printer scans in black only.
    • Black and White: This setting scans in black and white only.
    • Color: This setting scans in full color.
    • Grayscale: This setting detects, then scans various shades of gray.
  11. To adjust the scan, click Scan Adjustments.
  12. Select a Scan Preset.
  13. Click Scan.

These does happen on a number of occasions.  I was standing there copying my documents then someone sent a document to be printed to the copier and it interruped my copying.   I did not hit interrupt, i did nothing.  I have been looking all over the place trying to find how to set the print priority so that does not happen again.   So not to be mean Joe but .......

Actually for me the error 018-763: char convert error in SMB was an SMB authentication issue.  I discovered that when I edit the record to correct the path I have to enter the password again.  I'm just using port 139 which was the default.  Now it works for me, but the other posted solutions did not.  I'm working with a Versalink C405 and Versalink C605.
