Re: Account codes

Joe,

I appreciate your response. I should have been more accurate. What I am wanting is only on copies, any user to come up to the MFP, and not have to put in a user ID. Only an 4 digit account code that represents their department. Then make as many copies as they want, then it log them out after 2 or 3 minutes of no imputs.

I made the changes per your solution. Now I can't put in any code and it's asking for a user ID. We have about 50 4 digit codes. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks again.

Under permissions then user accounts, do I need to put the 4 digit code in user name or password?

And nobody should see any of the 4 digit codes.

I do have an admin password set up.

Yes it is normal for the password thing to happen.

Don't use Chrome when setting anything up on any Xerox device.

I set it up on a VersaLink product today , only difference is I used port 25.

Having said that, there is no reason to use SMTP2Go on a device that fully supports the protocols required for SMTP.

Hello,

When I open Easy Document Creator and I try to scan I get (translated from Italian): "current job not completed, probably due to missing ram or disk space"

Actually it happens even before the scan starts. I have 200gb empty space on hdd an enough ram.

I have Windows 10 home. Until last week all was ok. I have tried reinstalling drivers but without luck.

Can you help me?

Thanks,

Mario

Scanning via FTP-server on Xerox 6604

Hello!

I can not configure the scanning of documents on my Xerox 6604 on the FTP server. Through the Web interface, I made the following settings, but when I try to scan, my Xerox 6604 writes an "incorrect login" error. The same error occurs when I try to connect to the built-in FTP server through the Total Commander or via the web interface.

Please help setup the FTP server on the machine.

127.0.0.1 isn't an actual IP address, it is a loopback address, you are telling the printer to scan to itself, not your FTP server, use the right IP. (Start > CMD > ipconfig)

The Чerox 6604 has an embedded FTP server. The question is how to connect to it - what settings I need to set for this.

Re: Cannot Scan with Xerox WorkCentre 3215

I have also just started having a problem scanning with the 3215.  The diagnostics indicate that the scanner is functioning correctly, HOWEVER when I try to initiate a scan from the workcenter it says the computer is "not available"  When I try to launch the scanner from the computer it starts, the pages feed through the scanner, it appears to be working, and then I get an error message that says something to the effect that there was a problem, please try again.  I have reinstalled the drivers and rebooted my computer several times, but come to the same end each time.  I have had this problem intermittently for some time, but previously when I rebooted the computer and restarted the printer it resolved itself.  Not now............  Can't do my work without this, so if I cannot find a solution soon I'll have to buy a different brand of multi-function machine!!

Unable to scan more than one page to Netapp SMB share

Our Xerox scanners cannot scan, using Workflow Scanning, more than one page to our Netapp storage (NetApp Release 9.1P9). One page scans work fine. Multi page scan results in the error messge "Failure transferring job to network server". Our Ricoh/Savin copiers can scan to the Netapp without any errors. Also, our Xerox copiers can scan to a Windows Server using SMB without any issues.

The issue is only when our Xerox copiers attempt to scan multiple pages to Netapp storage.

Netapp support doesn't think the issue is on their end. SMB v1,2,3 are all open. Xerox support hasn't been able to give us a solution after our ticket being open for over a month.

We have tried giving our copier account "full access" to the Netapp share also.

I saw similar posts on here and the solution was to update the copiers. One of our copiers is on the latest version. For example, I looked at the Software Release Quick Lookup Table and there are three different releases listed for Xerox WorkCentre 5955.... which one are we supposed to install? We have one of those releases installed already.

WorkCentre 5955 - 073.091.075.34540
WorkCentre 7855 - 072.040.145.05000
WorkCentre 7970 - 072.200.165.14201

Does anyone think firmware is the cause? Netapp as the cause? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure who exactly you have been dealing with for the month with Xerox but the issue is 100% known in the specific firmware on the 5955, and the firmware on the other 2 are way older than 2nd level would even troubleshoot at this point just due to the amount of fixes to scan that have been added in the 18 newer releases for the 7970 and 19 newer for the 7855.

As for which version you should be running, as of today, the current for all 3 devices is 073.xxx.008.05210

The tool install method should be used for all 3, or an Altboot, do not update direct from a 072 release to an 073 release using the CWIS method.

Once you update they will probably just work, but if they don't, you can enable Network traces and see the whole communication via Wireshark

CWIS > Properties > Security > Logs > Network Troubleshooting

Latest firmware

5955

7855

7970

And as for knowing what firmware is the latest, Xerox uses formatting that can be decoded if you know what to look at, and the following is just what to look at.

Scanning to PC not working on VersaLink B405DN

I have tried for several days to get this to work, and out of 12 users, only two can scan back to thier computers. This is a brand new Xerox VersLink B405DN MFP that we purchased a few weeks ago and the scan to PC has fought us tooth and nail.  I have followed videos, suggestions on search results, called tech support for assistance, searched Xerox forums, and as a last ditch effort, completely reset the machine back to factory settings and start all over with the configuration, and after the last step mentioned, only two users can scan back to thier PC's.  Each of the other users that were added to the Address Book have all gotten different error codes for the job not completing... 027-529, 027-589, 018-772.  Only the first one came up in any searches and all attempts to fix the issue using suggested resolutions have failed.  The fact that I was able to get two users to connect and scan, but all others to have different failure codes is very perplexing and I am very frustarted at this point.  I welcome any suggestions that may assist us with finishing the installation of this unit on our local network.  :)

Thank you very much for this information. I will give it a try today and let you know how it goes.

We've been working with a Xerox subsidiary that has had an open ticket with Xerox corporate.

PM me the log ID/ Case number they have open and I will see if I can look into it.

Or the serial number of the device (But I may not be able to find anything since it wasn't Xerox sold)

I'm interested in how this could be going on for a month and yet nobody in your Xerox support line thought to do step one.

027-529 - No SMB read permissions, so the user/pass is valid for the connection, but can't read what is in the specified folder. You need to elevate the user privileges on that PC

027-589 - SMB protocol error, user account locked out. You failed multiple scans and the PC locked the account, reboot the PC.

018-722 - Error connecting to Google server related to Google Cloud Print, not scans. (Time/date/DNS is wrong)

So by the look of the errors, add the user account to the actual share, and then, use the specific formatting Windows provides within the brackets as seen below when you add the info to the printer.
