Wow, Media Temple has one of the worst websites I have ever seen for getting info out of, it appears they simply won't give you the SMTP server info with out giving them an email address to use, which implies they have different servers for different accounts.
IMAP isn't supported by the printer, and POP isn't used or needed (Unless of course you want spam to be printed face-up to the top tray) so just ignore anything referencing them.
So onto the printer side. Open the webpage to configure the device (Enhanced web Service, shortened from here on as EWS)
EWS > Connectivity > SMTP
Which will show you this (normally I would pre-fill this with your settings, but since I don't know your settings because of your SMTP server not showing them on its website, I'm using GMAIL as my example.
Basically:
1. Device Email and SMTP AUTH user name have to match
2. The 2 password boxes are pretty self-evident.
3. Validation Type absolutley needs to be set to On Device
4. SMTP server address is whatever Media Temple says to use from the link above, the port number too, and the Connection Security (maybe called Encryption) too.
Of course the SMTP server name can be the IP address or the hostname of the server, but to use the hostname, you have to make sure DNS is correct on the printer EWS > Connectivity > Ethernet > DNS > Edit
And if HTTPS is enabled on the printer, or SSL/TLS/STARTTLS is being used for Encryption, then the time must be correct to within 3 minutes EWS > System > Date& Time
And with that I am done what I can do, I just don't have access to the relevant information for your mail provider. If you set it up correctly and get odd faults (017-714 for instance, try updating the firmware, the launch firmware has issues with SHA-2), you can get the latest firmware right here
Wow, There is SO MUCH stuff NOT in the documentation for this printer!
I must be getting closer.
I Have initiated a scan to eail and it did not error out instantly, however, it is just sitting and spinning, telling me it is sending been a couple of minutes now.
wait... 016-513 timed out
Would it help if you had my email address?
The error I got before it "semi-worked" and did the time out was 027-779
027-779
Authentication fails with SMTP-AUTH (After server is connected).
(SMTPERR_AUTH_FAILED)
016-513
SMTP server reception error. (SMTPERR_CONNECT_RESP_FAILED).
Procedure
Timeout occurs. Server load may be too heavy and network load may be too high. Retry the
job.
In both cases I suggest the firmware be updated, it should resolve it nicely
Between what you sent me and a little touch to Media Temple, it's now working!
How awesoome it would be to have all the stuff you just told me in the documentation for the printer (screenshots and everything). I would never have figured it out on my own and my local dealer has no clue how to do the email setups.
Thanks again, now I just need to figure the rest of this thing out.
To be fair, it is ridiculously easy for me,because I do it for a living (I work 2nd level support for Xerox USA for higher end color devices)
And because I can weasel out information like "who is your SMTP provider" and the documentation people can't
While it isn't likely that smtp.office365.com will change, it can, and then the document is wrong, and they need to make revisions etc etc.
Xerox doesn't even pay me to be on the forum, I just do it because I *like* troubleshooting. And oddly, if they started to pay me and give me this as a full-time position (That would be awesome), it would likely end up that I would have to start worrying about those things, and do a worse job. (That would be bad)
So it is a good thing they don't pay me to be here, at least that is what I tell myself ;-)
And then I could not just post a random picture totally unrelated to the job at hand, because it doesn't look professional.
I'm having the same problem and it's really inconvenient. I'm not really sure that it's possible to solve it without giving full admin rights.
Running network scan as admin though a scheduled task doesn't work either.
Another option is to scan through TWAIN , buy you need a usb cable.
Hiya. So I am in EMAIL Setup and setup the following:
SMTP server, SMTP Authentication, Copier email address. There is no email encryption
I goto the last section and Test configuration to an internal email address (domain of C8055 = domain of end user email). The test email is successful
I walk over to the C8055, and initiate an email from the MFP UI. I can browse the LDAP and find the same end user, but when I send, the job fails with the following error: Job failed. No messages were sent, Could not login to the sending mail server (SMTP). Check your user name and password provided or contact your System Administrator
I've double checked that the IP address of the C8055 is allowed to access/login and send emails with the SMTP server. I can use webmail, login as the email account given to the MFP, and send an email with attachment, to the end user.
Is this a bug?
Peter
There are only 2 possible causes.
1. EWS > Properties > Connectivity > Setup > SMTP (Email) > Edit > SMTP Authentication
Section 1 is you at the printer, Section 2 is anything, including the Test Configuration option in EWS that the printer sends without you at the device. In short, they probably don't match
2.It is less likely, but still possible, that it is not using the right from address when you are at the device, for instance it can use the logged in users email, so check that it isn't enabled via EWS > properties > Login/Permissions?Accounting > Login Methods > Personalize User Profile
And similarly in EWS > Properties > Apps > Email > Setup > From Field > Edit
Make sure it is set to always use the default from address and that the address matches exactly what is used in the SMTP section
As a side note, the latest firmware is probably a good idea, it fixes many of the color problems with the AltaLink controller, currently it ends in .20500, but that should change very soon (We were told today, but that was just an estimation). If the above doesn't get you running, try the update, the link will always go to the latest version. Grab it here
The answer was much simpler. Though it opens up some more questions.
I simply turned SMTP Authentication to NONE (even though their email admin says the MFP userid was authenticating to the mail server).
Vuola. Both times emails sent.
The solution by Joe053204-xrx did not work for me because the second pop-up window did not appear. However, I found that there were two tasks scheduled in the Windows Task Scheduler, so I disabled them both. Hopefully that will do the trick.

Maybe I formulated wrong.
The problem is:
We start copy 5 page on the printer, locally.
And when the copy was at 3-4 page, somebody sent a print task to the printer and the printer started print instead continue the copy.
I have never in my life even heard of a machine that could do that if you wanted it to, it simply makes no sense at all that you would want it to do that, and the firmware / software on any device I have dealt with can't.
I'm afraid I have no answer to provide, as far as I am concerned, what you were told is happening, can't be.
Hi rade,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at the solutions for streaks and see if any of them will help with the marks you are seeing. Make sure you are using Xerox genuine drum cartridge. For the noise you are hearing make sure the paper you are trying to use is within specifications for the machine. Try a different paper, if there is no jam and the paper is correct you may need to have service look at the machine. Please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.
Hi johanza,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please turn the machine off and unplug the power cord. Make sure the power cord is plugged into a dedicated outlet with no surge protector or extension cord just for this test. Once it is plugged directly to the power outlet turn the machine back on and see if you can scan or copy. If the problem continues please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.
Hi johanaza,
Please see the first post for possible solution.
