How to automatically sort your scans by date on Xerox 3345?

On Xerox 3325 settings address book was an option for scanning to automatically create a new folder with an interval day\month\year. For Xerox 3345 there is no such option! Where to find it? I do not like that all the scans are added in one folder.

Autodetect Color option printing in black and white

Hoping someone can shed a little light here: We have a WorkCentre 7845 and it works well, but recently the Autodetect Color option in the Copy function has been copying some color documents in black and white. I've tried rebooting the device and cleaning the scanner bed, but I still seem to get the same result. The Color option in the Copy function prints the documents fine. The documents in question don't have a lot of color, like a line or a box. The rest of the documents are black text or the white of the sheet. My question: Is this the normal function of the Autodetect option, or is there something I can look into to see if we can get the functionality back?

I have been trying to configure SMTP to configure Scan to email but in vain. I am getting 016-772 error. I am trying to use my gmail account. Could you please share with me how you could accomplish this.

You didn't set a DNS, or you entered a wrong one.

If you don't know one, put in your router/gateway address in the spot for the primary, and Googles 8.8.8.8 for a 2nd

It certainly isn't 100% accurate, but typically would count color when not sure.

 

But...

Machine Status > Tools > Device settings > Input

You can figure this one out, Xerox leaves them in the middle, if yours are not, somebody changed it, if they are, move them around to get desired results.

This worked! Thanks so much! Do you happen to know if this is indicitave of a problem with the scanner itself, or is that not something we need to worry about?

I've never had it come up even once, so it isn't common and I have no idea if it is just an insignificant thing, or if it means anything.

 

I wouldn't dwell on it, if it happens again I would call in Xerox to inspect it (Assuming contracted with a maintenance agreement)

 

If it stays fine after the adjustment I would pretend it never happened and move on with life.

 

If they were not in the middle I would go find Steve* who works in Accounting and give him <redacted>

You can't trust that guy, he is always causing a ruckus

 

 

 

 

*It is entirely possible this whole bit should be ignored, if you really do have a Steve in accounting I (think its awesome, what are the odds I could guess that?) apologize for the inappropriateness of the comment

I have the 3635 MFP I use at home.  I did not purchase the wireless hardware for it when I bought it new.  I did, however, purchase an Apple Airport Express a few years later, and hooked that up to the ethernet port on the back.  I am now able to print wirelessly to it, since it's now on my home network.  Works like a charm! I believe the Airport Express is $99.00, but you can also buy them used for half the price. Either way, it's something to consider....

Xerox workcentre 6400: scan and copy services are not available. print service is available.

The subject line message is what our printer is displaying, no fault code(s). Powering it off and on does not help. Please assist.

Hi The Slap,

What do you have as the file name now?  Is it Doc which is the default or was it changed?  If it was changed what was it changed to?

well...that's a good question. I'm coincidentally troubleshooting that with Xerox in another thread as we speak (scan to desktop).  I have a different issue going on due to a "file name", which is my only impediment at the moment.  Once that is resolved, I see no issues that would prevent me from scanning wirelessly to my desktop.


WC 5335 SMTP Default From Address changes when logged in

We have 15-20 WC 5325/5335 devices at an account that just switched from their local Exchange server to Office365.  They're insisting on TLS + authentication, so my only option is smtp.office365.com.  When trying to scan, users get an "invalid response from SMTP server error."  I've found the problem, I'm not sure there is a solution for it on this model.

 

The devices are all running Papercut with "Auto-Add Me" enabled for email.  If I turn off Auto-Add Me, scanning works fine.  The problem is that when enabled, the default 'From' address changes to the logged in user rather than the default 'copier@domain.edu.'   Since SMTP is also authenticating with copier@domain.edu, it fails when the From address does not match the user trying to authenticate.

 

On the ConnectKey models (WC 5800, 7800, etc.), there is an "Always Use Default From: Address" setting in SMTP that fixes the problem so that no matter who is logged in, it's authenticating and coming from the Copier user.  I don't see a similar setting on the WC5300 series.

 

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I bought an AirPort Express on eBay for $8 + shipping. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Support,

 

 

I cannot scan to PC.


checking scan folder able to be accessed.


useraccount password is correct on both copy machine and computer. Also, it has read and write access to the folder.


hostname is correct.


using default port.

 

 

but cannot scan to PC. It is always error "completed with an Error 018-763: char convert error in SMB"

 

User report that it has worked before. Does it relate to SMBv1?

 

 

Can you please check this issue, the issue persist for 4 days now.

Nice....let us know how it works out for you.  Remember to reset the airport express to factory settings before implementing (just to be safe) since you bought it used.
