Xerox Versalink B405

Hi

I have problems with scaning. I set the path to save scaned files or to folder on my computer or to onedrive. When the printer goes to stand by all the paths are lost. Can someone help me to save the path, so that it will be always there?

Thank you.

Marko

Hello,

But this was working before the firmware upgrade. Also we are sending from an account within their own doman so surely it wouldn't see this as SPAM.

Cheers

Tom

Then do a wireshark trace and find out what is actually happening. I can only go by the fault code you provided, and yes, Office365 can easily block inside a domain and does.

Documate 3920; syntax to add network printer;

I am using a Xerox Documate 3920 and would like to use the Copy-to-Printer feature.

As far as I understand, you can assign as well a network printer (Copy->Change Printer->Add Printer).

What is the correct syntax to add a network printer?

What socket/protocol is supported?

I would like to add a print-queue e.g. like "lpd://ip-address-or-hostname/queue" or "lpd://192.168.0.24/Gen-PCL5", but I always get an error "print test page failed" when testing.

Thanks for any help,

Tom

The only way they should be disappearing is if you are not saving them in the address book.

If you are creating them anywhere else, just change your setup process.

Unless it is a feature added after the documentation for it, that isn't an option, it can only output to a USB printer, not networked.

File Name scanning to network share

Everything works great scanning to network share except the file name that shows up in the share.  The user is prompted at the device for Aid_Year... they enter 2018 for example, then they enter the document type... such as Resume for example.  I am guessing the "Filing Options" box values are incorrect since the files end up being named something like "DocTypeAid_YearLocal_User170803.pdf" instead of "Resume2018.pdf".  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Joe, but the documentation you are refering to might be outdated (8/2010). The firmware which is installed here shows Version 1.0.1 ( or 0.101) from 11/2015.

On the panel, there is an option to change to a networked printer. The very little panel-help shows an example syntax of "http://server/.printer" or "\ID:Pwd@IPPrinter" - but I struggle with those limited examples...

As it is implemented in the Firmware, I do have strong hopes, someone is already using that feature?

It is fairly unlikely here since this is a Xerox site, Xeroxscanners is a separate entity.

It probably doesn't list much because it likely depends on the output device you are using.

You could for instance be sending to a linux print queue, in which case you can get the information in CUPS>Help. If direct to a device, then it depends on what port/protocol

Straight to a Xerox it would be lpd://13.226.xxx.xxx/lp for most devices (Obviously your printers IP)

Hello Joe,

I have put the address in the "allowed" section within Office 365. I have also run a mail trace and I can't see any of the emails coming into Office 365 since we updated the firmware.

Although since changing that we are now getting the error code 016-781.

Thank you for your help.

You had to have changed something on the printer to get 016-781, or someone else did, because that means absolutely no data to the server, meaning the printer never found a connection of any kind to smtp.office365.com, which would not happen due to encryption or protocols, it could only be that the server is put in wrong, or the gateway/subnet/DNS is wrong on the printer.

I just found out the answer to this question.  The test feature has been moved to the address book; it is not in the SMTP settings area. I hope this helps.  I do not currently have a C405 available for screenshots...

Does the entire DADF assembly need to be replaced or can I just replace the DADF PWB?

Hi sgattman,

Thank you for using the Support Forum. WIthout a machine model number it is hard to answer your question.  Please consider going to the support page for your model and see if there is a case about naming files when scanning.

Daryl, I would love to see where you found this, because mine on launch and latest spar firmware has no such feature. On any VersaLink product that I can see.

Hi,

with a new System there was again the failure, that no mail was send with the office365 smtp server.

But i found the problem:

Check under System/Security -> SSL/TLS Settings, that for "Device Certificate - Client" is the Machine certifikate selected.

On our new system this was not specified, after selecting the certificate of the system, the mail send works with office365 !

How to determine scanned files have finished transferring to a file share

$

Hi,

RE: Xerox WorkCentre 7855i and 5875i using Workflow scanning.

I am successfully scanning files to a network share, and have a piece of software that is trying to process the scanned files.

What I need is a way to know when the very last scanned image has been put in the file share, so my software can correctly start processing the files.

I have the scanner dropping the XST files as well as the NEXTNAME.DAT and XSMDESC.DAT files along with the scanned images.

Is there something I can look for in the XST file that will tell me the scanner has finished dropping files?

Many Thanks,

Rob.

It isn't possible. The printer has no idea when you are done scanning,it has no idea if you are going to do another scan, it can't possibly send a command/file stating it is done something when it doesn't know if it is done.

If Xerox even tried to do so, someone would complain that it sent the file too fast, they only paused for a second when interrupted by a co-worker and now their whole job is ruined, they might lose their business and may as well just go live in a ditch tomorrow.

And yes, most support staff in most companies have got that call near exact.

Your software should be able to see the files immediately on transfer, but do to the .lck files, it won't be able to move or rename them until the lock file disappears. (Which is exactly how it works when you transfer a file from your PC and somebody tries to move it or rename it during transfer)

I can add to that threath that I've seen a problem accessing a printer through HTTP or HTTPS after changing the IP from DHCP to Static.

There is no answer from HTTP even though XDM is reporting that HTTP is enabled. What I've seen is that the ports are closed. This is why the printer is not communicating. (nmap was used to scan the ports)

Cycling the power or cycling the HTTP protocol on and off sometimes works but not all the time. ALTBOOT is required as a final solution.
