Deleting multiple workflow scanning templates? (Xerox WorkCentre 7970)

Howdy, folks.

 

We've got three Xerox WorkCentre 7970 MFP's throughout our office.  They seem to be pretty nice machines, besides the leaky toner cartridges.

 

Anyways.  We've got a list of workflow scanning templates, one for each user in our office that has requested this ability.  Now, recently, I went through one of our scanners and updated the list -- removed templates for users who are no longer with us, and added some templates for users who have been newly hired on.  The trouble I'm having is... it seems like I'm going to have to go about this cleanup process across ALL of our copiers before importing the clone file into each of them...

 

...and that's kind of a pain and difficult to manage, if there are a lot of deletions.  Is there a way that I can delete the entire list of workflow scanning templates?  Or do I have to manually go through and delete them, one by one?  And if that's the case, when can we customers who purchased $20,000+ hardware expect a software update that corrects this glaring oversight?

Not really a great response. A support forum shouldn't be limited to one part of the world. I was unaware there are different support forums for differnt parts of the world. If there are, please redirect me to the Xerox Australia support forum.

 

Regardless what country a device is sold in, Xerox still make it right?

 

You could have suggested different ways around the problem. I found there was a timeout setting (default at 45 seconds) that I could increase which left the device waiting to perform another scan using the same settings as the last scan. This was a vaild work around.

 

While the functionality I originally asked about does not existy on this deivce, you could have taken the initive to submit an feature request to product development group. Generally speaking customers are the ones using the products so their ideas are often valid. Is there an official feature request section of Xerox I can forward my suggestion to?

Hi box293,

 

Fuji-Xerox has a support forum, but it appears to not be very active, they do have this and that looks like it will allow you to do what you are requesting.

 

Some devices are made and sold by Xerox and done so worldwide, then there are products that are made for specific markets, and that applies to Fuji-Xerox as well. Fuji-Xerox is a merger of the 2 companies and is not controlled by Xerox (Think Honda and Acura, or Toyota and Lexus)

 

It is entirely possible that someone who owns the device, or supports it may be able to chime in here on this forum, I am not in the US and am here often. But nobody in the US/Canada (98% of the forum users) would have even seen an M255z as it is not sold in those markets.

 

 Officially, this forum is P2P and not staffed by Xerox, those of us who work for Xerox and try to help out do so on our own and are not paid or compensated for doing so.

hi,

 

there is a way to setup an tempalte pool, in this pool you can drop all your .xst files (templates)

 

you point all your machines to that template pool, so if you change a setting in the pool, all the machines will update automaticly to the templates in tha pool

 

you can find probaly more information in the admin guides

Hi t.spett

 

There should be no reason to delete any users if the clone file has everyone in it that is needed.

When you apply the clone, it does not add users, it wipes all the users and adds everything in the clone file.

 

So you would only have to do anything manually once on one device, make the clone of that device's templates, then apply that clone to all the rest of the fleet, there should be no reason to even go on the Scan tab after the first machine.

 

And I agree about the delete option, there should be at the least a "delete all" option, if not a line of check boxes to select all, or multiple and then select Delete, Export, Import just like the address book does.

With this link you should be able to search the knowledge base of topics and solutions as well as download drivers and documentation. The are Xerox devices that have the ability to create scan templates and program specific features onto console buttons. This site contains a Contact Us link which would also be where you may be able to submit a feature request for a feature already being used elswhere.

I tried what you said, and it DOESN'T wipe the users and add everything in the clone file -- it adds any NEW users to the existing list of workflow scanning templates, but any OLD users that I might've deleted on the one machine do not get deleted.  They are retained, which, unfortunately, means I must manually delete all the old ones on all machines.

 

I might have to look into the template pool that Fabio mentioned.

It should remove them, I did it here just to verify when you posted and it worked.

Possibly it only works in the newer firmware, Mine is on 072.200.165.14201, I cloned only the Templates though. Possibly you would get different results when you have templates working in conjunction with repositories, in that case you would need to also select "Workflow Scanning"

Scanning XEROX ColorQube 8900S SMB / FTP

Hello,

I have some problems with Scanning to a folder with our CQ 8900s.

At first I told the CQ 8900s to  Scan all documents over SMB to our Win 7 (64Bit) PC.
That works fine. But after 2-3 Days i get a problem.
The printer told me they have no access to the Scanning folder. Access denied.
All other services and connections working fine. Also the access with the User I createt for the SMB connection.

To fix this problem I have to restart both systems in a correct order.
First restart the Win 7 PC and then restart thet CQ8900s.
I don't know why but this is they only way.


So i decied to give a  **bleep** of SMB and changed to FTP upload.

I installed FileZilla Server.
this works great since 2 month withou restarting any system. BUT !!!

**bleep** is that **bleep**.
The FTP upload alway creates 3 Folders.

On of the folder called "Scan010.LCK" with an LOCKINFO.DAT inside, wich told me 9c:xx:xx:xx:xx:0d CREATE

The other on has the same name as the PDF file as it is created. (If the pdf file is: "mycompany-2015-10-01@11-38-37.pdf" so the folder is named "mycompany-2015-10-01@11-38-37") -> and inside this is an other LOCKINFO.DAT, wich told me 9c:xx:xx:xx:xx:0d CREATE

And last but not least it creates an folder like this "xcse6889" with nothing inside.

I have no idea why this happend. I found no setting to change this.
And so i have to clean every houre our scaning folder from this mess.

Maybe someone can help.

Here I see that he wants to delete an file that doesn't exsist, and I get an error messagen on the Printer display.

Hello,

 

I am very very sorry.

 

found the probleme by my own.

 

The FTP user had all access but only to create. Now i give him the access to delete files and folders.

Now i can see in the FTP log that he create all files and folders like bevore and in the end he will delete all not necessary files and folder.

Thank you for the suggestion, i'll try to send a request for a FER even if I doubt that they will re-introduce it ...

I don't understand why they removed this option because in some cases and nation it's still usefull and necessary.

Is it possibile to send a written request to Xerox instead of a call?

They don't have it on machines that don't sit on a desk basically, fax is mostly dead out dated technology and this type of MFP rarely resides near enough to a person to make the option viable.

 

As for not calling Xerox, the only option (limited to USA/Canada) is to use Fast track to the Experts links on the support pages.

But you will eventually end up on the phone (assuming the device has a maintenance agreement). Most of us who work for Xerox in 2nd level support dream of the day they will allow us to work by email, but so far they do not allow it at all, even if the customer uses the fast track option and lists email as the primary contact method :-(

 

 


Paperport 14 SE does no activate feeder when scanning on Workcentre 6027

We just bought a Workcentre 6027 and the feeder to the scanner works just fine when using the control panel or Omnipage 18.1 SE for scanning. However feeder does not activate when using Paperport 14 (we need to scan to pdf). Is there a setting we've missed  or is there known issue? Windows 7 SP1. Oh and the Workcentre is on a wifi network connection.

I just wanted to say I finally figured out the issue with google. I used your settings above, but still received a POP error. I had to make a change in Google's settings to allow "less secure apps" to sign in.

Log in to Google, go to your account, go to "connected apps and sites" and on the right side, scroll until you see "allow less secure apps" and turn it on.

Once I did that, the email finally worked!

There is a better way to go, without having to use SMTP2GO. I just spent the time on it myself as I was receiving POP errors with these instructions. See this post (http://forum.support.xerox.com/t5/Copying-Faxing-Scanning/100-working-and-easy-solution-to-Xerox-6027-Scan-to-Gmail-SMTP/td-p/177929) for gmail settings. In addition, you will need to update your Google account settings as follows:

Log in to Google, go to your account, go to "connected apps and sites" and on the right side, scroll until you see "allow less secure apps" and turn it on.

Once I did that, email finally worked!

Scan to SMB problem Xerox 7545

Hi,

 

I am trying to setup scan to netwrok location (SMB) on a Xerox workcentre 7545, but keep getting an error "login failed, check username and passwords and or setup.

 

The network location i am trying to send it to is as follows:  f248fsp01\test\jbtest

 

I have the default repository protocol set to:  SMB

 

Default repository server:   f248fsp01  I have also tried using the IP address, i also tried f248fsp01.domainname

 

I have tried using port 139 and port 445

 

share:  test

 

Default repository document path:  jbtest

 

For the username is have tried using just the username as well as domainname\username

 

 

Regardless of trying all this i am still getting the same error message.  I also tried it on a Xerox workcentre 5865, but get same error.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Xerox WC 5335 - Fax Keeps Reprinting

Hello,

 

I have a Xerox WorkCentre 5335 which is set up as a fax machine as well.  Every so often, another Xerox WC 5030 at our other location keeps reprinting a fax that was sent out last week.

 

Is there a way to clear up the memory on the Xerox WorkCentre 5335 so that it doesn't resend the fax anymore?
