7220 Web SMTP Test Succeds but Device Cannot Scan

$

Hi

We have a 7220 at the office. Eventhough I set up SMTP preferences without problem and can receive test mail sent via web but when I go to the device for sending a scan. Device cannot send and gives a failure print.

Can you advice a solution to this?

Do I need to set DNS or anything else to send e-mail scans?

Regards,

p.s. SMTP is from Yahoo mail.

Deniz

There are 2 authentication fields, whatever the bottom one is set to on yours is correct and the top is incorrect because the bottom screen is what the test email and any email notification uses, but the top one is what gets used when sending from the device itself. So make the top one match the bottom one.

Phaser 6180MFP editing email address book

Hi there,

I want to edit the email address book on our Xerox Phaser 6180MFP. I would like to delete some email addresses and add in some new ones. I have gone onto the printer's IP address and tried to edit it there but it says our login information is wrong. I recently called Xerox support to reset our username and password so I know it isn't wrong. Is there a way I can edit the address book on the printer itself?

I'm aware of this Address Book Editor but we no longer have the software CD-ROM to install it.

Thanks,

Emily

Anything the CD Rom ever had is available as a free download. The Editor for example is here.

That said, if you can login as the admin at the device, but not on its web interface, the issue is more likely to be your web browser.

Chrome and Microsoft Edge (Win 10 only) do not work correctly with many Xerox devices, password fields often don't actually get applied, which causes a lot of confusion.

Hi Joe,

I tried both Internet Explorer and Chrome and they both didn't work. How can I login as the admin on the device? Is it possible to edit the email address book on the device itself?

Thanks,

Emily

Persistent Error 035-705.  Docs scanned fax on machine. It dials number, attempts handshake, sounds like it connects, but then fails.

Fax confirmation page shows Mode:ECM and Result: 035-702 and documents not sent.

These numbers are current and working per contact with them,

Have attempted power off/power on reboot. Checked phone connection.

We use Xfinity for phone, and newest edge router -

Everything working just fine for the past year.

You can only login when prompted at the device when changing a thing that requires it.

You can only do the address book though when on the webpage, or from the tool I linked to directly in my post.

As for the admin account, it is simply admin with all lower case and no password, unless somebody there changed it. If that is the case the only way to fix that without having the new account info is to wipe the device, This will delete everything on the device and put it back to factory defaults, so your current address book and everything else will be lost entirely. Which is done at the control panel via System > Admin Menu > OK > Network Settings > OK > Initialize NVM > OK > Yes

By far your best option is to just download and install the tool from my initial post.

Replace the phone cable and or disable ECM mode.

Do you mention the phone company /router because it started happening after you switched to those things?

ECM mode is disabled via System > Admin Menu > Fax Settings > ECM

In the same menu set replace ECM with Modem Speed and attempt it at a lower setting than whatever is current as well.

Try a software reset.

Login as admin and go to Go to Tools > More > Software Reset > Reset Both > Confirm > Close > Exit Tools

Try again.

Similar issue with a Xerox 3635.  When we set up office 365, we successfully configured the Phaser to scan to emails in hosted exchange.  Recently we've added a new user, but cannot get scan to email to work for the new email.

What needs to be done?

If you can't email to one person the machine is not the problem, the mail server makes the decision once it receives the email, not the printer.

If that user is on another domain, it is likely that you are setup without a relay server side so you can only email from the MFP to your internal domain.

As for the SSL/TLS issue, just don't bother with it, MS has done things right with their system and created virtual servers for their users so authentication is not even required.

Smtp server: [domain].mail.eo.outlook.com

Outgoing port: 25

No encryption, no authentication.

Example:

So if Xerox.com was your domain  xerox-com.mail.eo.outlook.com
would be the SMTP server (That hyphen is not a misprint, you replace . with -)

Have you tried another mailbox? I have seen cases where single mailboxes were corrupted while the rest ran fine.

DocuPrint M255 z - Assign a button to scan to a destination

I don't think the device can do this but I'm asking to see if it can.

I am going through scanning a bunch of receipts.

Evey scan I must:

  • Press the scan button
  • Down arrow twice to select "Scan To Network"
  • Press OK
  • Press OK on Scan to..
  • Press OK on Computer(Network)...
  • Press OK on the address book entry
  • Press the copy button to make it scan

Way too many steps. Is it possible to assign one of the buttons (numbered 1 - 8) on the left side of the machine to do all off this for me? When I try and configure the Address book entries via the Nework Management interface it does not let you select an object from the network address book.

FX DP CM305 df network scanning failed with this error

SMB Error
Rename command Failure
Error 031-551

This is nothing to do with folder permissions on ther server. I made sure of that already
Also the scanning credentials on the printer is also okay.
This came about after moving from Windows Server 2008 to netapp storage.

Please assist

Thanks

Wes

Hi box293,

Thank you for using the Support Forum. There is nothing online about saving a Scan process for this device. The support team for this forum is USA based and this printer is not sold in this region. Please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

Hi Wes
Thank you for using the Xerox forum.

I would suggest that you review the attached SMB setup processes.

Hi wlee,

See if changing the name of the scan filename temporarily fixes it. The reason being that most Xerox machines by default keep adding a number to the end of the file. So the scan is called DOC.pdf then the numbering goes from DOC001.pdf - DOC999.pdf for example. The issue that comes up is it won't go past 999, so you will get these kind of errors in those cases, you don't even have to have all those files in there as it just checks the latest file, if it is there it will fail.

I have no idea about your device and can't find one on the Xerox LAN, but that is how most Xerox and FujiXerox controllers work, so at the device, if you change the filename and it works, just change the default filename to DOC1.pdf fo rexample and it will chug along just fine and keep the same schema as before and be totally transparent to the end-user.

Other stab in the dark guesses on the issue are as follows.

1. Somewhere there is a leading or trailing slash in the SMB repo setup, and since the device adds those itself, it will cause it to go like smb:\\192.168.1.1\scan\\docs\\dave, and since the device is UNIX, it thinks it should look for, or create a folder with no name

2. Server is on Windows 2012 and the MFP can't do SMB3 or can but is set to use port 139 instead of 445

3. Username for the printer is a domain account and entered as Domain\User instead of Username@Domain (This is a big one in Server 2012 when scanning from an MFP)
