If server 2008/2012 the user name will likely be user@domain. Check the formatting server side by right-clicking the folder and going to Sharing > Advanced Sharing > Permissions, the copier user name must be formatted as seen in brackets at the server, it does not matter how it works from a PC or another printer, in this case this is the only acceptable user name format.

Capture.GIF

Next on the list is to make sure this highlighted entry is not checked in CWIS > Properties > Connectivity > Protocols > IP > DNS

2.GIF

Also, check that the time is not off by more than 3 minutes if Server 2012 CWIS > Properties > General Setup > Date and Time

3.GIF

And lastly, when you create a repository or template, if the port lists 139, it is likely an old firmware that will need to be updated, so if all the above fails, upgrade to the latest firmware and try the scan immediately after.

Re: Paperport 14 SE does no activate feeder when scanning on Workcentre 6027

So does it activate a scan on the platen glass?

It would help to know that the issue relates to the document feeder and not the fact that the TWAIN driver isn't at all working with the scanner in the first place.

Xerox Workcentre 6027 only scans to email 3 pages at a time.

We have the printer connected through the company network. When used to scan to email, the printer will scan all the pages in the tray successfully. However, the emails received will be in bunches of three page pdf documents rather than a full pdf document.

For example, today I scanned a 6 page document. I received two emails: the first email had the first three pages and the second email had the last three pages.

Anybody know if there is some setting I have enabled or something I have to change in the settings to change this and have it send as a full pdf document?

Re: 6015 Network Scan give SMB Error 031-529 Login Failed

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have Windows 10 at my home computer. I am having the same error: 031-529 scan login failed, and I have the following questions:

1) under "Login Name," is it exactly the same name as what I use to login to use my computer? Windows 10 requires me to log in with my email account. For example, if I log in with "abc123@outlook.com," should I put in "abc123@outlook.com" under "Login Name?" Or should I simply use my username that is "abc123?"

2) under "Login Password," is it the same password I use to login to the Windows system?

3) the folder I shared is at the following location:

     C:\Users\abc123\Documents\scanneddoc

What should I put under the "Name of Shared Directory" box? Is it just "\Documents?"

4) so, should I type in "\scanneddoc" into the "Subdirectory Path (optional)" box?

What else do I need to do to have a proper setup? Please advice. Thank you very much.

Thanks for replying. The problem was a PEBKAC issue. I had accepted the defaults for the TWAIN driver. Unfortunately the default is to set the ADF to NO disabling the feeder.

I looked at the settings and once I set ADF to YES the problem was resolved.

Thanks to all those who took the time to even look at this.

I made the changes you suggested, but i am still getting the same error message.  The device already has the latest version of firmware installed.

I tried using the IP address and the hostname of the default repository server, and i tried using port 139 and port 445 with no success.

Is there anyhting else you can suggest?

I have nothing further, I work in 2nd level and those settings I listed in conjunction have 100% success rate in my experience, which means there is something else overlooked or you have a Firewall doing something *wonky*.

Your next step is to do a wireshark trace of a scan between the device and server and read it to see what step is failing.

1. abc123@outlook.com

2. Yes

3. Find the share by selecting Start and typing \\127.0.0.1 and then hitting Enter (This will show all your shares as a network device sees them, so if you can see the Documents folder put it in there

4. Yes if the above was correct

As for What else part will be 445 and not 139. (SMB2 vs SMB1)

The machine cannot use the right-click Share With option, you need to right-click a folder and go to Properties > Sharing (Share With is used for Windows Home Groups, which is not compatible with SMB)

can you try to scan to the IP instead of dns name?

dont know, but sometimes this solves it with our customers, and dns is also working

be sure to refresh the templates when you change somethng , sometimes the settings are not pushed to the template you scan with

9302 Email scan as searchable PDF

$

Just recently my company decided to explore the use of scanning docs as Searchable PDF's so we enabled it on a few machines to play with. Its worked great.

However we did run into one issue. We had someone trying to scan a hand written log sheet (3, 8.5 x11 sheets) and it kept hanging up. I tried just about everything i could possibly think of, then it clicked "I wonder if it has anything do with the searchable PDF option" as soon as i turne it off it worked, i turned it back on tried same doc and it failed.

Software version: 072.180.145.05000

Not a game changer, but is there any thing that can be done on my end other than having users manually change the setting on the email setup screen?

thanks

I ran into this same very issue on a Xerox C70 and was able to resolve it using the following process.

1. I created an account on the server with a username and password.

2. I shared a folder on the server, for scans to come too.

3. I opened an incomming port 139 in windows firewall advanced features to allow the printer to communicate with the server.

4. In the network scan settings for the C70 I chose SMB as the protocool.

5. The host name is the ip address of the server.

6. The port is 139.

7. Shared name would be the name of the folder shared on step 2.

8. Selected System in the Login Authenication section.

9. Entered the details from the account you created in step 1.

10. Was able to succssfully scan to the networked location.

-I hope this helps.

Negotiable Instrument Copy Limit Error

Hello - we just bought a new 6605N workcentre.  We attempted to copy a hand written company check, to keep for our records but the machine gives a "Copy Limit Error" message.  Further internet reading shows the machine maynot copy certain "negotiable instruments" - but how are we to make legitimate, legal copies of our own checks?  Can this feature be bypassed or passworded to allow limited use?

There really is no fix, Searchable only works on a clearly defined font.

Throw some freehand note or a weird font at any OCR software and you will get odd issues.

weird font.gif

Xerox printers usually fault after an extended period, not a good response to a problem to be sure, but probably too difficult to program it to identify that it isn't bright enough to figure out what is on the page and give you a kindly worded message about the quality of your penmanship ;-)

Workcentre 3220 and Network Scan Manager located on central server

$

Good morning,

I'm having a bit of a weird problem in regards to our Workcentre 3220 and using the network scan feature. The Samsung (?) Network Scan Manager program is running on our central server and seems to work fine most of the time. I log into our server via a Remote Desktop Connection so that we don't require

However, when I log out of the server connection (not log the server out of Windows, but rather just disconnected from RDC), the network scan manager seems to "lose" the printer and will not let us scan anything until I've re-logged in to the server and it refreshes the connection. When I log back in, I notice that the printer has a red "X" though it, then 2 seconds later it goes back to normal.

Is there a specific reason why it loses the network connection as soon as I log out of RDC? Is there not a way I can set up the Network Scan manager as a Windows Service and not have to worry about it? As of now I have to keep the RDC connection open all day just so people can scan to their computers.

Thanks,

Travis
