If you are correct and "everything is the same but the result is different" then the only possible conclusion is that you used Chrome to setup the 2 that fail and literally any other web browser when you made the first one.

Chrome does not play well with Xerox or FujiXerox printers, password fields do not update, which in turn means a login failure.

If it isn't the browser, then the format of the user is incorrect (Windows 10 is never just a username, it is always domain\user, hostname\user or user@domain) You can get the proper format straight from the share folder (Use it exactly as it appears in the brackets) and it goes without question it should have full control.

Xerox WorkCentre M20i won't send scans to email - says "authentication error"

Hi,

Our old xerox machine Xerox WorkCentre M20i has been giving us a lot of headache lately.

It won't send any scans via email. It worked fine on July 5th, then we didn't use it for a few days (that's nothing unusual, we never used it every day) and then it suddenly says "authentification error" every time we try to scan something and send it via email. This is the only way we know to get scans from that machine to our office computers (we basically send it from one of our email addresses to another), scanning never worked in any other way since the initial setup many years ago, so the scanning function is unavailable to us since this error occured. I wasn't working for the firm at the time of the initial setup of this machine, so I don't know the details why it only worked like that. The machine prints and copies just fine, scanning is the only issue.

What we tried so far: PO/PO, pullinng out the network cable and then putting it back in, changing the sender email address and the corresponding smtp server - we tried 5 different email adresses from different providers, installing the driver on our office computer again (the latest version from 2009). None of these measures solved the problem.

While going through the device settings in search of a solution I noticed that there are options missing unter email setup: Auth User Setup and Guest User Access. They must have been there at the beginning because we use a password to send emails from the device, and it could only have been setup using these options (according to the user manual). These options are also listed in the help sheet the machine printed out by itself.

We love our grandpa machine and would like to give it another chance before throwing it out. It can scan double-sided documents in one go and produces uniquely small files while scanning - we cherish that very much and would like to keep it running as long as possible. 

Any ideas, guys?

Customized app on front panel UI of Versalink's can be deleted by any user

I have created several custom 1-touch app's through the UI of the C405 and B405 Versalink device's that allow end-user's to perform complex job's easier without have to make custom setting's everytime. My issue is that at the bottom of the UI 1-touch dialog box there is alway's a "Delete 1-Touch" icon that any user can click intentionally or by accident and blow away the customized app. How do I setup securities so that the "Delete 1-Touch icon is hidden?

EWS > Permissions > Guest Access > Edit

I'm having the same issue and get the same error message. Can't anyone at Xerox address this post? It seems to be a 'known' problem.

Look you make it sound so easy, right just do this and download? But I click on your alleged patch and nothing downloads at all! Where is it that I find the link to it? You are not making sense when there are no links and when you allege to have posted something but where did you post it or where is it available? look you go and click on the underlined word: "Patch" and see that nothing at all happens! So where is the so called Post?

David, thank you but your link is not for Xerox server. Thanks I do not ever download anything from strange sites thanks for trying. If you have the where abouts for a Xerox link I like that?

I have attached the file to this post (hosted on xerox.com). I'm not sure when the file will be available on support.xerox.com. The only other way to get attached file is to call Xerox at  1 (800) 821-2797 and ask to speak with "Second level", who can email you this file.

Documate 515 - Blinking Red Light

I have a red blinking light.  Tried turning off and turning back on.  Tried re-booting the computer. User manual says that if light blinks 6 times before pausing, the error code is "The status light is faulty.  Contact Technical Support".  I am waiting for a call back from them.  Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks.

The M20i is a legacy device, it must be set to use a relay. What mail/SMTP server is it set to use specifically?

It can't be using Office365/GMAIL/Yahoo or any such service directly. It doesn't meet the requirements of those services

Hi,

Thank you so much for taking time to solve our problem. The incompatibility of the machine with online services is probably the reason for our troubles.

The email address that was set and worked until recently was kettnercom@1und1.de, the server was smtp.1&1.de (we are located in Germany, 1&1 is one of the leading providers of mobile and internet services). It may well be that the servers of this company got an update and our machine no longer meets their requirements. 

The other email addresses we tried to set were from mail.com, gmx.com and strato.de (another major provider of mobile and internet services in Germany), all of them showed the same problem - most likely because of what you said.

So how can we set a relay on our machine? Which email addresses could be suitable? We are happy to get a paid email address if we have to.

Fabio, If I clear the memory as you suggest will it also clear the scan set-up function set-up?

It isn't set on the machine. SMTP2Go is the method of choice it seems for the last few years.

I don't work for them, use them, or have any ties to them at all. But this forum mentions them a lot, so I refer them a lot.

I honestly don't know how to respond to this.

So they managed to make the light blink to tell you that the very same light isn't functioning properly ? I could see if it flickered, but the very specific blink 6 times is insane. I have to assume that:

1. It is a bad translation

2. There is another light that is meant.

Please, if you get an answer from them, update this post.

The PK card in the back of the machine needs to be removed after initial setup else this fault will occur. 

Memory clear will factory reset date, time, and all user settings (and not fix this fault).

Diagnostic mode is not for customer use so no one from Xerox can tell you how to enter, but I can confirm NVRAM reset will clear this fault.
