Xerox WorkCentre 3335 - Scan to Email

I am having problems with the scan to email feature.

This has been working for over a year with no issues and suddenly a couple of weeks ago we got a message "The job could not be sent, a connection to the server could not be established."

This is an office365 account.

I am also seeing this error in the alerts section.

15-320 A connection problem was detected with the SMTP server during a scan-to-Email operation. Contact the System Administrator to check the SMTP server. Scan-to-Email is disabled, printing and all other machine services(if installed) are unaffected

I am able to browse to the maching browser, so i know it is on the network. I have tried a different email account which still did not fix the issue.

It does say that something is required but i am unsure what?

Can someone please help.

in "login name" i have only the name of pc because i'm the only one to use it.

I'm afraid you don't know how computers work here, the name of a computer has no relevance to a login name, it doesn't matter if there is one user or 1000, users have names.

The folder  i use to scanner in "Permissions for new folder" i have only "Everyone", i select all permissions but does not work.

So click add on that screen and add the username you use to log into the PC (assuming it has a password) or create a new user with a password and add it in there (Passwords are required for remote access, it doesn't matter if you don't need one to log into the PC itself, it is required to log in remotely from another client (PC,Printer etc)

Good Morning -

Just a quick follow up...

I got to the office this morning and low and behold, there are now some scan profiles on the machine. Not sure what changed, except maybe it took some time to sync with the laptop.

In any case, I am still trying to solve the issue of changing the default document type to PDF.

There are some options in the scanner properties, but they are all image files or XPS document.

Anyone with experince using the App been able to add the PDF file type?

Thank you.

Jason

If pdf is an option it can do, it will be here via EWS > Apps > Scan To > File Format

My guess is that the firmware/device does not support SHA-2, which Office365 requires.

But as you are using a relay I can't speak with certainty.

I know to use SMTP.office365.com on port 587 with STARTTLS, there are hardly any Xerox devices that can scan with a firmware released pre 2017.

The latest version available for the WC3335 is newer than that and is located here so I would go ahead and install that first off, then start troubleshooting if still needed from there.

Thank you. I started looking at this as a potentially better option than using the App. Still seem to be having some struggles getting the Scan To feature to work to a share on the computer. But, I think what I'll do since I am not working from a domain is simply use the Windows App that is compatiable with the printer. That seems to work just fine. I wanted to be able to do everything from the control panel on the printer, but for now I'll continue to use the App and then revisit this topic if it becomes a problem.

I appreicate your help.

Scanning Effect that gives hard-edges on text in color

$

Hello,

I am trying to get an effect that makes text hard-edged, almost like a black and white scan, on color scans.

I did color scans on our xerox machine a year ago at what I thought was default settings with 150 dpi.  These scans had small file sizes and very hard-edged, clear text.  Now I am doing the same thing and I am getting soft-edged, fuzzy text.

I have attached images to show what I am currently getting and what I am trying to achieve.

The left side is my current scan, and the right side is what I got a year ago.  I want my current scans to look like the right side:

WhatSetting1.PNG

You can see that the text on the right side has a very hard edge, there are no gray pixels around the edges of the text.  The text on the left side is fuzzy, soft edged, and has pixels in shades of gray around the edges of the text if you zoom in.

Essentially, the text on the right looks like it comes from a black and white scan, but clearly it was picking up the colored background.  It just treated text as if it was black and white.

Here's another example from my scans last year that shows the effect I want to get for my current scans.  If you look at the work "Luke" you can see that the K and E look hard-edged almost like they were re-drawn digitally, but the L and U are fuzzy edged.  Similarly, on the handwritten "Finn" all of the letters have that re-drawn, or hard-edged, look except for the dot on the i does not.

WhatSetting2.PNG

I want the scanner to do this re-drawn, hard edged look where it can, as it did in the scan above.  My current scans do not attempt to create hard edges on text like the one above.  They leave all text soft-edged like the LU and the dot of the i.

Does anyone know what setting I can use to do a colored scan that creates hard edges on text like the images show?

Thank you for your time,
Jonathan Sanders

Xerox versalink B405 scanning issue

Good evening,

My company has recently purchased a Xerox Versalink B405 Multifunction. We are having trouble getting the "job number" to match the scan number on our network folder. This is a major issue, because we scan hundreds of documents a day and need to be able to differentiate between scans. Does anyone have any suggetions? I have had our IT guy looking at it, but he cannot come up with a solution. I know it is possible, because we are currently doing this process on our HP MFP 500. Again, any help is greatly appriciated.

Thanks!

Hello Joe,

I tried your suggestion but it didn't work!

At this point we will call Xerox and ask if a technician would come and try to fix this...

Thank you

Versalink C405 - High Sierra SMB scan problem

Hi,

I know that with recent updates FTP scan with High Sierra is not possible anymore.

So we are trying to use SMB instead as know it is working. We succesfully use SMB scan with High Sierra and a WorkCentre 6605 by simply sharing a folder within MAC OS using port 445 but when we try to use it with a VLC405 it doesn't work giving error  018-762.

What does it mean? Are they using different SMB versions?

Thank you

Scan fails, "Error in main scanning process"

Hi,

Scanning fails with the following error :

Error in main scanning process: Could not load file or assembly 'AcoustID, Version=1.3.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=nuN' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

This happens only when comparing byte-by-byte, not when using MD5.

Scan starts, the error message appears a short time into the process, I click OK, a box displays results after an abnormally short while (~ 15 seconds with a 264 GB folder). It says xx xxx groups of duplicates, but 0 files have duplicates. The Duplicate Files Tab does not appear.

Thanks

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.

Hi Mohammad,

Thanks for your response!

The machine is a WorkCentre 5890i.  I also found a Product Indentifier: XVV-1 in case that's useful.

Yes, every single one of those is indeed a word, I would not in any way call them coherent sentences, and since your links in both posts go to a Job search site, I'm going to consider both posts to be pure spam and edit out your external links.

If this post was supposed to make sense, please clarify and I/we will be glad to help.

The job number is the number of jobs the machine has done, the file name shows the amount of scans to that particular location. They are not expected to match, either the HP is a dedicated scanner with only one scan location, or it tracks/names things differently.

018-762 is an SMB timeout, a few things can cause that, so I will cover a few fixes and you can do them all.

1. Switch from Hostname to IPv4 address of the Mac to test if it is a DNS issue

2.JPG

2. Update the printer firmware

3. Set the correct time on the printer. (Needs to be within 3 minutes of local time)

EWS > System > Date & Time

2.JPG

This test worked on both with both MFP's on the latest firmware with these exact settings here.

Circled in red is probably the fix, Highlighted yellow is maybe.

I that doesn't work, OCR (Searchable) could be the answer, though the file size increases

Thank you Joe!  I used your first image, the circled in red and highlighted settings, and I scanned at 200 dpi.  I was able to get the effect I was looking for.

Oddly, if I use those settings and change to 150 dpi the resulting file size will be larger and it will have soft-edged text.  So 200 dpi also seems to be required to get the effect.

I already had this problem and customer support solved it whitout creating anything, unfortunately i didn't note the procedure. I had made changes to the folder as you indicated but then we did something about the owenship of the printer.

It was a 5 minutes job...

Thanks
