I have found after working with Xerox level 2 support that the printers that have the option for STARTTLS will work with G-Suite if the setting for Less Secure Apps is set to allow - https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps

Once this is allowed then the SMTP.GMAIL.COM server can be used on port 587 with SMTP AUTH on STARTTLS encryption protocol. Hope this helps a few people

For scanning, I have set up the function Scan output with the address book.
Our environment needs the Novell protocol.
Printing is via the server queue (iPrint/LPR-Mode).

1. After a restart

2. Printing works.
3. Next I scan something about the scan output:

4. Scan works and the file is saved on the server.

5. After that, however, I can not print anymore, the message "The printer is in error status" appears.

I can fix it by changing the frame type in the Netware settings to another frame type:

6. After that I can print until a scan is done again. Then the process repeats, I have to manually change the frame type again to re-enable the network protocol.

 

What else do I need to adjust?

Lo all,

 

I am having difficulties in setting up my contacts in the address book for the "Scan To" to be able too send scans from the WorkCenter 6515 to receiving computers/workstations.  I keep getting the following Error Codes & as of yet have found no information listed regaurding them.

Fault Code 018-759: Picture Preservation Place or File Name Invalid

 

Here is a screen shot oif my attmpted setup fort the SMB connection, names & IP have been changed to protect the inocent:6515 user setup.jpg

 

I had some help setting up an initial scan contact profile but cannot seem to replicate the correct set up or syntax to get any new contacts to work out.

 

Slightly off Topic, but also every error report I have printed from day one has the same annoying Fault Code:  029-717 PACFile URL Not Found Fail.  The machine generates that error on every error report since day one before I ever tried to set anything up in the configuration other than the basic IP connection & defaut set up configuration,  I Do not use the machines DNS reserved IP number set up as my router control gives me the ability to assign static IP addresses under the DHCP restricted access & static routes configurations.

 

Any assistance with the issues would  be appriciated,

Xerox 7845 shared phonebook for faxing from desktop driver

Hello,

I am able to send fax from desktop machine with printer driver (send word document by fax for example).

But, I want to share a phonebook for all people of my company (see picture... Sorry French windows).

 

I can't find any information about how to do that.

Would you mind if I ask which printer you are using? That will help with identifying which knowledgebase to use for useful solutions and if I can't locate a solution which technical team to engage.

It’s not clear from your post that your configuration requires a file path. Your screen shot shows everything formatted correctly, but a file path is only used if a subfolder within the share is intended as part of the destination.

 

This is further supported by the fault code, which indicates that it’s not able to find the path and/or share specified at the server you are using.

Why is my brand new Documate 4440 Scanner jammin & grabbing mulitple pages? I dont know what is going on with it. It is brand new and jamming and grabbing muliple pages. Its not humid, the pages are flat, so there should be no problems scanning them in. I am ready to take this scanner back

AltaLink C8045 Fax Problem

When I try to send a 32-page fax, AltaLink C8045 fails.

It first shows, dialing...sending...completed 1 of 32.

Then it shows "paused", then it tries again..dialing...sending...completed 1 of 32.

After few minutes, it just fails.

Anybody have similar problem?

yes, but the approach is different, i think you need to setup on device itself, not on webinterface

Thanks for the answer.

Fax works and email works.

It's just that the option is not seen in the device setup menu...

 

is this a firmware issue?

Scan from 3345 to folder (OSX)

I want to scan directly from Workcentre 3345 to a folder on my Mac (OSX 10.11.6).

• Folder on Macintosh HD is free.
• Protocol SMB is selected.
• IPv4 address of the computer in the network is entered (with the extension 139)
• Part Name: Is the name of the shared folder correct?
• Login name: login name and password of the computer, right?

Unfortunately I always get the following error message "File exists or the error is not specified".

Can someone help me?

Thank You for your reply SandyP,  I had a session with Xerox teir 2 support & it has been resolved....  Kind of one of those Homer DuHoooo!!! moments when I realized a couple of my errors.  I created a new user for the WC6515 to use in the contact as the user...  I went through the initial permissions for the user under advanced sharing for the folder, but completely spaced going into the actual share of the folder and including the user with the correct permissions for the scanner to be able to scan into the folder.  Also you have the file path correct, there are no subfolders in the initial share folder so no file path was needed in the file path line.

 

The 029-717 error is due to not having my proxy server settings enabled in the network router.... don't need em, don't use em!  The 6515 has the Proxy Server setup ticked to Auto by default so simply logging back into the web interface and turning the proxy server setup "off" solves the issue.

Here are the steps to the solution: 

Enable the LAN Fax Shared Phonebook Using the PostScript or PCL6 Global Print Driver

 

The Shared Phonebook is used for LANFax in order for it to be used on the Global Print Driver follow the steps below.

  1. Open the Printers, Printers and Faxes, or Devices and Printers window. See the Related Content for additional information.
  2. Right-click on the printer, and then select [Properties] or [Printer Properties].
  3. Click on the [Advanced] tab.
  4. Click on the [+] to expand Preferences.
  5. Click on [Fax] and then select [Setup].
  6. Click on the Folder icon next to the [Shared Phonebook].
  7. Browse to the location of the phonebook file (.xpb or .pb).
  8. Select the file and then click on [Open].
  9. Click [OK]. Access will now be given to the Shared Phonebook.

 

The address book file must be located on a shared network location. For example, if you have a shared network drive that all of your computers are mapped to, this address book file would need to be on that drive for the shared address book feature to work.  Basically, put it in a folder and share it out on the network and browse over to it . The pc that has the phone book/Fax address book would always need to be on the network.

Hello! I cannot seem to find help anywhere.  Not online, not on the phone with xerox, nothing.  Allow me to explain the issue:

 

Whenever I try to send off a fax using the Xerox workcentre 6605DN Multifunction printer (MFP) to a manual phone number, I only get an option to enter a speed dial number (a 3 digit number) and when trying to enter the 4th, the numbers delete, and a message appears from the top as a banner: "No recipient has been registered." 

 

However, in the past the user was able enter the full number at the fax screen and send the message.  There are no addresses in the fax address book.  I want to save factory resetting to a last resort option.  I've searched google, to no avail, and I think the user here:

Had the same issue, but the support guy didn't know what the user was referring to.  

 

Also, i called support, but they told me to check xerox.com for support (Big help) which I had checked time and time again

 

 

There seems to be a lack of fixes for fax issues, and I'm hoping someone can help! PLEASE!

seems its a know issue , can be fixed by a xerox technician, or maybe they give you the NVM settngs by phone :-)

 

ps (not found on internet :-) )

 

Problem:
When the customer presses FAX, they are prompted to input a Speed Dial number instead of a manual input.
Cause:
Corrupted NVM.

Enter Diagnositcs, select Fax/Scanner Diag then select Backup Data and then select All Clear. This should reset the Fax parameters without affecting Email or Network settings.

Note: if the above procedure didn't work.

Perform Clear All NVM under Installation (service diag). Don't worry, Fax address book should NOT be cleared.

Paper is not feeding properly into the ADF.
If your scanned documents do not feed easily into the ADF, or several feed in at the same time, you may need to clean the ADF feed mechanism. To clean your ADF use the same cleaning procedures outlined in Solution 3, step 4.

If the scanner still has feeding problems you should replace the ADF pad. Refer to your instruction manual for instructions on replacing the ADF pad.

This problem may also be due to a corrupted driver.
