WorkCentre 7845 - listen while sending fax?

We have a new WC7845.  When faxing, is there a way for a (non-admin) user to _occasionally_ monitor the phone line while sending a fax?

I want to avoid turning on audio monitoring as the default.

Thanks.

Hi Shobo66.

Thank you for using the forum.

To help troubleshoot we would need to know your product and if you might be using CentreWare Internet Services.

Have you checked the product knowledgebase for solutions?  Check here: Xerox Support & Drivers.

You may consider contacting Support at the following link: Fast Track to the Expert  or by phone 1-800-835-6100 U.S. & Canada Mon - Fri 8AM-8PM ET in the event no one has been able to assist you.

Hi Quiquehuet.

To help troubleshoot I need to ask a few questions.

Can you access the share from other pc's?

What error are you getting?  You particular model will give a fault code.

Hi mennotrav.

Thank you for using the forum.

You need to turn on fax audio line monitoring from tools but it requires admin access.

Here is the solution that you might take a look at.  It may offer more detail.

How To Enable Fax Audio Line Monitor

If that does not resolve your issue you may consider contacting Support at the following link: Fast Track to the Expert or by phone 1-800-821-2797 U.S. & Canada Mon - Fri 8AM-8PM ET.

SOLVED

I've been seting up again the shared folder, I've done it via GTK+ Gadmin Samba, and after many tests the device always showed 2 different error 016-782 and 016-783.

The first one is related to login, and finally I solved it discarding the 'smbguest' user and using my main user. Moreover it appears that each user can only access your folder and if you put the shared folder in your /home probably you have problems to login with guest user.

The second error seems to refer to the path and looking for it in the Xerox support I found the next support solution

<< 'Solution : Make Sure Only Back Slashes (\) Are Used in the Server Path (SMB Only) >>

I tried it and doesn't work, please rewiew and update it.

The solution is to leave the path blank, only be sure you share the folder in your /home and in the CentreWare create the directory using your main user and only type the shared name folder and remember that GNU/Linux is case sensitive.

Regards.

Main user is not root user, it means that you must use the same user that is sharing the folder.

Sandy,

Thanks for your post.  I was hoping there would be a button to listen in as there was on our old Konica Minolta (so users could do it on their own as needed).  That's alright, I just set the audio monitoring volume low so it's not too annoying all the time.

I appreciate your time.

There should be a fault code listed which would narrow down the problem and therefore the solution.

Blindly speaking. Do the following:

1. Reboot

2. Verify it is not listing any consumables as "replace now"

3. Do a Reset: as "admin" go to Machine Status > Tools > Troubleshooting > Software Reset > Reset Both > Confirm

4. Upgrade to the latest firmware

You can't find documentation because there are just too many variables for a one size fits all approach, the end information is the same, but getting to it varies by Operating System, and sometimes even Service packs within them.

With Windows 10 the printer needs to be very specific with the formatting, so on the PC go to the share Properties and make certain that the username on the webpage matches the PC how it is displayed in brackets, not the way you type it when you log in.

Also, Case sensitive for everything. Windows can fix upper and lower case but the printer can't and won't.

Re: 6015 Network Scan give SMB Error 031-529 Login Failed

Hi,

I am setting up Xerox worcentre on Windows 10 and getting the 031-529 login failed message.

I am using the Windows username/password with below settings. The scan folder is shared and have all the permissions.I changed the firewall rules to let the traffic from printer(192.168.2.28) as shown below.

Any ideas of how to resolve this.Looks like its the Windows 10 SMB configuration issue as everything else is correct.

Please advise.

Your username is wrong, Win 10 is never formatted with just the name. Check the properties of the smb share and format the name identical to how it is displayed in brackets here.

It is not going to work by typing the username you use to login because the Hostname/domain name info is added by Windows Automagically, the printer cannot know to do that remotely so you do it manually.

Problem with scan to email test Connection Xerox 7845

Hi, everybody, Im from Peru.

In my job we have a New Printer Xerox 7845.

But we have problem trying to set up scanning to email , we tried with our corporate email did not work and then we tried with Gmail but we could not pass the test configuration.

I think that we need to set up something on DLAP or not?

LDAP has no relation to the ability to send an email, it only allows email address lookups and possibly authentication to the copier.

As for the email issue, it depends on the error you receive.

No communication is typically the DNS server: Properties > Connectivity > Setup > Wired Connection > Edit > IP (Internet Protocol) > Edit

Make sure you give the machine a domain name too, if you don't have one, just type WORKGROUP

1.GIF

Also, very important that the time and date is correct to within 3 minutes, if it is not, change it, the big pain with this is that the machine will need a reboot to set it. I can't fathom why time needs a reboot yet nothing else does to apply.

Properties > General Setup > Date and Time

2.GIF

At this point you can verify communication to the outside world via Smart eSolutions so go to Properties > General Setup > Smart eSolutions Setup and click on Test Communication Now

3.GIF

So now that we have the comm errors eliminated, the next thing will be authentication. I have no idea what your server requires, but Gmail is smtp.gmail.com on port 587 using TLS, and now SHA-2 encryption, the first 3 work on most of all the firmwares, but SHA-2 is a recent addition. So if your current firmware ends in 09100 you most likely will need an update.

But first, confirm the settings match exactly the following screens:

4.GIF

Login name absolutely has to match the previous screens email address

5.GIF

6.GIF

And lastly, the first time you setup an account it puts the from address in the email defaults, but if you make changes in the SMTP screens that does not update, so check in Properties > Services > Email > Setup and edit the From Field

7.GIF

And notice it probably does not match the other screens, change it and make it match

8.GIF

Then go send a test email from the machine and from CWIS (Last tab in screenshots 4-6)

If it works at the machine but not in the web interface or vice versa, the login names don't match on screenshot 5.

If everything is right, but it still fails you may as well just update the firmware, which can be done with the following linked tool that will do it for you, just run it from your PC and follow the directions. Once completed email will work for sure to gmail.

Possibly your time or DNS is incorrect.

Ping the hostname of the smtp server to get an IP address and try that.

Also verify the port because if the port is wrong, most SMTP servers will not respond (You get no response from smtp.gmail.com on port 25 for instance, but do on port 587)

>Possibly your time or DNS is incorrect.

The DNS is automatically from the DHCP.

I have no idea how to set the time and why would time have anything to do with connection?

>Also verify the port because if the port is wrong,

I am able to connect to using the port from my computer which is on the same router.

Time is System > Admin Menu > System Settings > Clock Settings

As for the why it is because the printer typically is set to HTTPs, which brings in SSL Clock Synchronization.

http://security.stackexchange.com/questions/72866/what-role-does-clock-synchronization-play-in-ssl-communcation

Without knowing the server requirements I can't go into Encryption abilities. I believe the printer in question does not support SSL or TLS, which pretty much leaves you stuck with using a relay since almost everything uses SSL/TLS/STARTTLS.

If you were trying to use gmail for instance it would be impossible on smtp.gmail.com as it requires TLS on port 587, or SSL on port 465.

In that case you would have to use the un-authenticated SMTP server which is aspmx.l.google.com as it uses port 25, no encryption and no authentication, but then you are limited to sending to only gmail and google accounts email addresses as it cannot do SMTP relays.

Office 365 also does that

Smtp server: [domain].mail.eo.outlook.com

Outgoing port: 25

No encryption, no authentication.

Example:

Xerox.com is my domain which would make the server  Xerox-com.mail.eo.outlook.com

http://www.msexchange.org/kbase/ExchangeServerTips/MicrosoftOffice365/ExchangeOnline/office-365-generic-mx-records-deprecated.html

Beyond that you would need a wireshark trace to diagnose further as all I can do here is guess since I have no line of site to your setup.
