Setting up Workcentre Pro 232 scanning

hello.

i recently purchased a used xerox workcentre pro 232 at auction. I have a small office using two computers and a wired router. One workstation is running windows 7 64 bit and the other is windows 8.1 64 bit. I have managed thus far to get the global drivers downloaded and installed with success and to have a wired working connection the the printer. I am able to print which makes me happy. However, I want to pursue network scanning. I have the CD Roms that came with the printer, there are three and they run Flash Player and basically teach you most everything.

I cannot seem to enter a browser and head directly to the printer interface for setup. Which is kind of wierd, as my primitive network sees the printer (DHCP) and I can print. But I cannot get into the printer system directly. I am unclear if I am blocked by windows firewall or if there is some language barrier with protocol mismatches.

The only other thing I can think of is connected my laptop with a USB male to male and entering the internals in this capacity as some of the tutorials and instructions indicate.

I am able to enter the configurations with the touch pad screen and the network scanning tab is there and ready to go except the machine isn't congifured for a destination. Which i am pretty sure is part of the problem and solution.

I really need to figure out the flatbed scanning as I am an artist and want to scan years of work of 11x17 artwork into the electronic form to publish on my webiste.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot Network and Email scanning with my newfound xerox workcentre pro 232?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
