I must have mis-read whatever it was I could have sworn I saw on one of the Xerox/Visioneer websites. Sorry.
I guess my only option is to try the Vista 64 bit driver and just hope Windows 10 doesn't get upset by it. I probably won't try it for a while because I'm having some USB port problems and I'll have to get them fixed soon.
Anyway, thank you for your suggestions. If I ever do get the scanner going I'll come back and give your inital post a tick, but forgive me if I don't do that yet.
