Scan to email (on the device) is not capable of creating an XST file, and Scan to Folder would go in the App Studio forum assuming that was how the icon was created.
If the machine itself was the problem, it would have been caused by breaking the template pool, where every scan is stored in the same location as the template pool, so the XST file (Job log) will be stored where the remote templates are stored (XST files with different content) and become a template that doesn't work.

Go onsite, find the actual fault and obtain a configuration report from the device. If it only happens via an App Studio app, then the person who has access to the app in App Studio itself will need to troubleshoot the issue with phone support, or the App Studio forum people
