Joe,
Not even trying on Windows, just Linux; better chance of maybe finding a backend to support it. It's a fluke, but anything is possible.
Already have an old inkjet that I'm using. It works, but it's just too d**n slow for the magnitude of the job I'm taking on. I need something that has an automatic document feeder that's worth it's salt, not some busted $50 inkjet that gave up half the ghost.
As far as scanning to folder, this model supposedly didn't even support it, so that might be a write-off anyway.
As far as scanning to e-mail, I'm not worried about SSL/TLS. I've got an in-house e-mail server set-up in Linux, LAN-only. Don't need to worry about encryption as it's never going to leave the local network.
Is there any way that I could get an enablement key? I don't think that I need hardware. It's got the network box in back with 10/100, firewire, usb, etc... Like I said, I can't believe that Xerox even cares about these any more, so what difference would it make what I do with it now?
Let me know. Thanks!
