We have a XEROX WorkCentre 7545 series device in our environment. For several months we have been experiencing long delays between the time a document is scanned at a machine and when it arrives, via our local Exchange 2010 server, in the user mailbox.
This most often happens on the machine users do the most scanning on in the office.
The scan job shows a "processing" status for about 1, 2 up to 6-7 hours!
We have also experimented by connecting the device to different switches, using different cable paths to the switch.
This behaviour appears to get progressively worse until we are forced to reboot the Xerox device. After a reboot, the device will send scans in a normal (less than a minute) time to the Exchange mailbox. But, after a few days it slows down again. This happens with documents of all sizes and at all scan resolution and colour settings.
The solution
Xerox rolled us back to an older firmware level and that (after a couple of weeks of testing) appears to have fixed the slow scanning problem. They had to come back in after the rollback to apply a patch that fixed an issue with scanning to network shares hosted on Server 2012 using the newer version of the SMB protocol so if you get them to do the fix for you remind them about that if you've got any 2012 or newer file servers in place.
So I would like to know how I can obtain one because the problem bothers a lot.
