Re: Scanning Problem with Xerox M215FW - ERR 351-555

To be clear, I don't know what the printer you are using is and have no access to test or verify it in anyway. This post is generic and covers most devices.

With that out of the way, I assume you are getting Login errors. Which typically means the printer either has the wrong credentials (Domain accounts need to be Domain\Username or Username@Domain) or that the protocol of the server OS (Windows 8) does not support the protocol of the device sending the file.

Typically, this would mean that the printer is using port 139, which requires Netbios over TCP/IP, which is no longer typically enabled in current OS's, Windows 8 went from SMB1 to SMB2 and SMB3, which don't use the Netbios, and multiple AV programs by default disable it too. So if the printer itself is incapable of doing SMB2-3 (It uses port 445 instead of 139) you have a few choices.

1. Switch to FTP

2. Enable SMB1 through the registry

3. Call Xerox for support to see if they have a Spar firmware to resolve it.

Things to note, the Share with option is not supported at all, you need to go to Properties/Sharing of the folder in question, the account used by the printer needs to have listed Read/Write permissions

a Password on the account in use is a requirement . And the scan user should show in the Security tab as well on the folder with Full Control.
