Yes, you could try updating the firmware to the latest SPAR release, though read the instructions carefully if you do.
The "error" just tells you that there's no hits and that you need to specify your search better, doesn't mean it'll help.
I do know a Xerox support tech on the Swedish support line that I can recommend if you feel like talking to someone in swedish would make it easier for you?
